Must have guide for Manliness !

We've been a fan of Maddox for years. Loved his "I am better than your kids" book that grades children's art. Absolutely hysterical !! I got this for my husband who probably read the whole thing in one setting in the John. I heard him howling with laughter in there, and well, since most men don't laugh when they are alone with them selves on the Potty, it was one of two things. Either the book made him bust up laughing in a high pitch hyena sound, or he finally looked down at the size of his member - LOL. Must have for Manly men and gals who have a set bigger than the boys !

Not bad...

I enjoyed reading this book as I've been reading Maddox's rants and raves for a few years now. Even if you are not familiar with his work you've probably received emails of things he's written and were unaware. My favorite has been when he rated the drawings of children and gave them a letter grade for their work. Hilarious.

The book however wasn't as funny as I thought it would be. It does certainly have it's comedic moments especially when I read the term "ovarian delight" and the chapter about boobs was great. Maddox has actually done funnier stuff than this in the past but I guess all that funny somehow didn't make it to the book. I have to say I was slightly disappointed.

When I read "I hope they serve beer in hell" it was a nonstop laugh fest. The Alphabet brought some strong chuckles but nothing too gut wrenching. But if you're a fan of the genre and the author by all means pick it up. I personally was just expecting more with Maddox's name on the cover.

It's entertaining, but I remember laughing a lot more when I read his website.

I read a few of the letters and realized that his web articles are better. I can't say exactly why or how they are better, I can't read one of them without laughing at least once, whereas I got through A, B, and C of this book without so much as chuckling. It seems sort of... canned, or forced... On the other hand, my coworker, who has never heard of Maddox's website, read the entire book, laughing just about the entire way through - and he doesn't really like to read. I suppose that if you want this for the novelty aspect (the jacket cover alone is worth the price, I think), or you are going to give it to someone who is not familiar with Maddox's style of writing, then get it. If, on the other hand, you are familiar with the website, and you are expecting hours of entertainment from fresh Maddox material, you may want to consider abstaining.
